Today was jam packed as we started our morning with an amazing breakfast where we saw many birds and even a few roaming dogs. Breakfast consisted of pancakes and gallo pinto, we needed our energy before heading off for kayaking at Lake Arenal.
Arriving at Lake Arenal, which is at the base of the volcano was a sight to see because the volcano was all around us. Lake Arenal is the biggest man made lake in South America. Kayaking was very tiring but luckily we got to swim in the shallow end. While Kayaking when we were still on the lake, we could see many birds flying above.
After Kayaking we needed something to eat, so we went to a place where we made our own empanadas and were provided with a buffet. Once we stuffed ourselves we drove on the mountain side and along the Continental Divide where we could see Nicaragua.
After a two hour bus ride we arrived at a coffee farm in which we learned how organic coffee is made and the daily life of a coffee farmer. The coffee farm is 100% sustainable and nothing goes to waste. Just up the street was the home of a woman who invited us to make fresh tortillas with her. They were so good! After our tortilla making we went to a sustainable tilapia farm and restaurant where some of us swam and others played soccer. After about 15 minutes of that we met the owner who took us down to one of the tilapia ponds where we fished for our dinner. Finally it was time to eat and we had some amazing tilapia and fruit juice. Day #2 was very tiring, but yet I can't wait to see what else this crazy adventure has in store for us!

So jealous! What a great adventure!!
ReplyDeleteHi Everybody! The first graders loved reading your news and seeing the photographs. We had a student teacher visiting and she read Noah's report because she speaks Spanish and could pronounce all the Spanish words perfectly. I can't believe you saw a rainbow! Happy travels, can't wait to read about Day 3! Love from T. Emily and the first graders

ReplyDeleteHi All,
ReplyDeleteThis is the sixth grade. We have some questions for you:
Did you get some good sleep yet?
What is the time zone difference?
Other than dogs and birds, have you seen any other animals, like the "Notaodius HOP"?
What are micro climates?
Was that coffee you were drinking in the photos?
It's so quiet (peaceful?) here!
Go Sixers! T. Daryl knows where the Cavs are NOT going - to the play-offs!
